Angelia "Angie" Jones Smith is a lifelong District 1 resident, third-generation Cocoa resident, educator, and community leader dedicated to serving the community she has always called home.
A graduate of Cocoa High School, Angie earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Central Florida and a master's degree in Educational Leadership. She has spent more than 30 years in education, including more than two decades at UCF, where she currently serves as Director of the UCF Transfer Center. Throughout her career, she has helped thousands of students and families navigate higher education, access opportunities, and achieve their goals.
Beyond her professional career, Angie has devoted her life to serving her community through mentorship, educational outreach, and neighborhood engagement. She currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Diamond Square CRA Advisory Board, working alongside residents, businesses, and community partners to support neighborhood revitalization and strengthen District 1.
Raised in Cocoa, Angie understands both the history and the future of the community. She believes in listening first, bringing people together, and building partnerships that create lasting results. Her commitment to service has always been rooted in helping others, strengthening neighborhoods, and creating opportunities that allow families, businesses, and future generations to thrive.

District 1 has been my home my entire life, so this work is personal to me. I want every neighborhood to have safe streets, reliable drainage, better lighting, and well-maintained roads and sidewalks because those investments improve quality of life for children, families, and seniors alike. I believe economic development should create opportunity for everyone by supporting local businesses, attracting quality businesses and responsible investment, and connecting residents to good-paying jobs. By listening, bringing people together, and working side by side with our community, we can strengthen our neighborhoods, expand opportunity, and build a stronger, brighter future for District 1 and all of Cocoa.
