Josue Otero

Josue Otero is a Marine Corps veteran who served a tour in Iraq in 2003. After his military service, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of New Mexico while working his way through college as a tour bus operator, traveling across the country and meeting people from all walks of life. He is also bilingual in English and Spanish.

Throughout his career, Josue has been committed to serving others. He has worked as a correctional officer and as a case manager for Aetna and with Florida's Agency for Persons with Disabilities, helping individuals and families navigate important services.

Since moving to Cocoa, Josue has continued his commitment to public service. He graduated from the City of Cocoa Citizens Academy, served on the 2021 Chief of Police Selection Board, and currently serves as Vice Chair of Cocoa's Code Enforcement Board. These experiences have given him firsthand knowledge of the challenges and opportunities facing our city.

Josue is running for City Council because he believes Cocoa should remain a city where residents are heard, neighborhoods are safe, and growth is managed responsibly. His priorities are strengthening public safety, improving infrastructure, encouraging smart growth, and ensuring city government remains transparent and accessible.

Josue and his wife, Dr. Kate Rooney-Otero, a local pediatrician, are proud to call Cocoa home. They enjoy being active in the community and are committed to helping Cocoa remain a great place to live, work, and enjoy.
